We drove up to see the big mountain and along the way finally saw a moose!

We have a dash cam that runs continuously as we drive. Along our travels, we have (probably bitterly) complained that others are seeing live moose along the road. So far before yesterday, we have only seen two moose and they were both roadkill. Yesterday (July 4) we were going up the road to Talkeetna, Alaska after our visit to Denali State Park to view the mountain. As we navigated up the Talkeetna spur road, a moose ran in front of the truck and Theresa did a great job of not hitting it and making a mess!

The views of Mount Denali/McKinley were pretty amazing! For our 4th holiday, we decided to head up to see if the sun was shining on the mountain, since the weather seems to be a bit unpredictable and the mountain also apparently makes its own weather.

We were blessed to be able to see the mountain after perhaps a 1.75 hour drive to the Denali State Park. From what we understand, the mountain is more visible there than other areas, so that was our focus.

Some of the overlooks give a pretty expansive view of Denali.

I used the Olympus digital to get a good close-up of the mountain:

The upper overlook had a really fun picnic shelter, sure enough trees grow everywhere around here:
