We began our trip to Alaska with a test camp in Birch Bay State Park outside Birch Bay Washington. Our first reservation proved to be a site that we could not manage to get our trailer into. After several failed attempts, we asked the host for a new site. The second site would not work either, and the host, Amy graciously showed us the reserved sites that they save for such emergencies. Good, we had a site for a couple days to finish our preparations.
